The reports and social media posts alleging that Turkish Airlines is not meeting the demand on Ukraine flights or ticket prices are above normal levels have no basis in truth.
Turkish Airlines flies to over 300 destinations around the world and ticket prices for each of them are determined via supply-demand balance and this balance is preserved even during extraordinary situations.
Screen captures of high-priced tickets mentioned in reports show travels with two or more connected flights in them.
During 16-23 February, our economy class ticket prices for our Ukraine – Istanbul flights were between 79 USD and 595 USD for one way while two-way tickets were between 129 USD and 952 USD.
Valuing satisfaction of our guest at every stage of their travels, we as Turkish Airlines would like to respectfully inform the public that reports on the matter are false.
As Turkish Airlines, we fly to six destinations in Ukraine namely Kiev, Kharkov, Lviv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson.
As Ukrainian airspace is closed in accordance with the first NOTAM that was released at 04:56 in Turkey time on 24.02.2022, we are currently unable to operate these flights.
Turkish Airlines operates 86 flights to Ukraine every week, three of them cargo flights.
We are closely following the situation in Ukraine and communicating with our Ministry of Foreign Affairs along with relevant authorities. We are continuing our preparations to evacuate our citizens in Ukraine after flight security is maintained and necessary permissions are granted.
As Turkish Airlines we fulfilled every duty to evacuate our citizens given to us without fail including during worldwide pandemic and brought thousands of our citizens to our country successfully.
As national flag carrier, we would like to inform the public that we will fulfill our part with national sense of duty following the decision taken on the evacuation of our citizens.
